Paula Patton
Paula Patton was born in Los Angeles,
California, to Joyce (Vanraden) and Charles Patton. Her father is African
American and her mother is caucasian. She has German, English, Dutch and
English ancestry. Her family lived right across from the 20th Century Fox lot
when she was growing old and she was a lover of movies from her early days. Her
mother, who loved good films taught in a school, as was her father, a lawyer.
Paula claimed that she tried to get away as young girls by
"pretending" to become someone else. It's no surprise that she took
part in Hamilton Magnet Arts High School performances. Her favorite character
was "Abigail" from "The Crucible". After graduation from
the University Southern California's summer camp, she studied film and was then
given a 3 month project to make documentaries for PBS. She was later hired as a
production assistant for documentaries on TV and Howie Mandel's talk show.
Later, she produced documentaries for Medical Diaries (2000 on Discovery Health
Channel). Paula says she is passionate about what she is doing but her ambition
was the same. She began acting classes before deciding to switch gears and
become a performer. She made headlines quickly and was in Hitch (2006),
Idlewild (2006), and Deja Vu (2006) as the female role in the film.
