Watts was born 28 September 1968. After her family relocated to Australia and
Watts made her film debut there with For Love Alone (1986). She then appeared
in three television series, Hey Dad.. (1990), Brides of Christ(91), and Home
and Away (91), and Flirting (1991). Watts was a failed actor when she first
arrived in the United States. She acted in small-scale movies and eventually
was a professional actress. This film helped propel her to fame
internationally. Watts was later cast as a tortured journalist in The Ring
(2002). She was nominated to the Academy Award for Best Actress for her
performance as a grieving mother in Alejandro film 21 Grams (2003). She
continued to rise to stardom with the roles in I Heart Huckabees (2004) and
King Kong (2005) as along with Eastern Promises (2007) and The International
(2009). Watts received nominations for an Academy Award for Best Actress for
her performance in The Impossible (2012) as Maria Bennett. In the decade of 2010
she was a part of such films as Birdman (2014) St. Vincent (2014), While We're
Young (2015), The Glass Castle (2017) and Luce (2019). Watts kept her acting
career going through film roles that were blockbusters, like in Divergent
(2015-2016).
